Appears on a Federal list of Confederate prisoners who have died in General Hospitals in the Department of the
Ohio. Dated Cincinnati, OH, 4/20/1863. Captured at Shiloh, TN (not dated). Date of death, 5/12/1862 at the

been captured at Shiloh -- probably misidentified].

Company records indicate he was awarded a "wounded furlough" (date of wound or engagement not given).
Hospital records show admission at Richmond on 7/13/1863, but not for treatment of a wound. Furloughed 40-
days from 7/25/1863. Did not return. Company records list him as deserted from the Nov/Dec, 1863 muster.
However, Federal records show he was captured (in Mississippi) by Federal forces and sent to the Provost
Marshal in Memphis, TN on 10/21/1863. Released on 10/24/1863.

Richmond hospital records show admission for wound on 7/9/1863 (company records do not indicate date of
wound or engagment). Returned to duty on 7/30/1863. Also, hospital records at Richmond show he was
admitted for treatment of a wound (right thigh) on 5/10/1864 (company records again provide no details on
date of wound or engagment, but hospital records show he was wounded on 5/5/1864 at The Wilderness).
Furloughed 60-days from 5/25/1864. Last company muster lists him as AWOL from 7/31/1864. However, he
also appears on a muster roll of Company E of the 1st Regiment Troops and Defences, Macon, GA for
Nov/Dec, 1864. Captured at Macon, GA either 4/20/1865 or 4/21/1865. Released on oath at Nashville, TN on
7/30/1865.
